Ingredients

Ingredients to make banana milkshake at home - 2
  • Banana: I like to use ripe to overripe bananas, so they’re soft, creamy, and sweeter, too! You can also use frozen sliced banana if preferred.
  • Vanilla ice cream: Choose your favorite, though I recommend a high-quality vanilla bean ice cream with vanilla specks in it.
  • Milk: Use the milk of your choice—dairy or even dairy-free ( almond milk , coconut milk , etc). For the best results, use whole milk or at least 2%+. Avoid skimmed milk.
  • Vanilla : Vanilla extract is a great addition for instant dessert vibes.
  • Cinnamon (optional): A few sprinkles of cinnamon to bring warmth and extra flavor.
  • To garnish (optional): I love serving this banana milkshake topped with whipped cream and dried banana chips . Omit or choose your favorite toppings.

How to make a banana milkshake

This recipe couldn’t be simpler. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. I like to add first the bananas, then the milk, vanilla, and cinnamon, and finally the ice cream. Once blended to your desired consistency, give the banana shake a taste and adjust any of the ingredients if needed.

For a frosty, thicker, creamier milkshake recipe, I recommend using frozen banana for the shake. Freezing them in slices is easiest for your blender.

Finally, pour the banana milkshake into your choice of glasses or mason jars, top with your favorite toppings, and enjoy! I recommend drinking it as soon as it’s ready for the best flavor. However, it can be stored in the fridge for several hours if needed.
